Erhai Lake, Dali, is one of the seven largest fresh water lake found in China. The name literally implies the meaning of “ear shaped that is as large as a sea”. It covers an area of about 250 square kilometers and located about 2km from Dali Town. One of the amazing facets of the lake is that, the nature landscape and scenery surrounding it is spectacular. A haven for photographer all year round and one can rent a bicycle to cycle along the lakeside while enjoying the fresh air and the beauty of nature.
During sunny day, the clear crystal waters of Erhai Lake and snow blanket CangSha Mountain complement each other with a saying “Silver CangSha and Jade Erhai”. A phrase the local would use to describe the splendor and magnificent of the lake. It is also a great place where many tourists would come to enjoy the various activities found here such as; fishing, boating, cycling, village and temple visiting, local culture experiences, foods and etc.
During spring season, Erhai Lake becomes a wonderland of flowers like azaleas, camellias, primrose and abundant exotic forest trees. Birds can be seen flying above the crystal clear water and various species of fishes within the lake. During a clear night, moon can be seen reflected upon the water which was given the name “Erhai Moon” by many local. It is one of the four best sights in Dali, Yunnan.
